I'd make David Tennant stay. Why mess with perfection. Or I would try to bring back Tom Baker from the dead (what, he's not dead yet? hehe)

Of course I want to renew my lease. Right? I love my apartment and I want to stay in it as long as possible. So I'll renew the lease, right?
My teeth hurt. I hate the dentist. She's nice, but still.

We got the family party out of the way early this year. We usually don't celebrate Christmas/Hanukkah until February.

Later, we watched Twilight. I've been hearing about how great the books were. The movie is probably everything a teenage girl could possibly want...

Anyway, if I don't speak or see you before - Happy New Year!! I expect to be ringing in the new year at the Marriott Longwarf with my fellow Ares crew watching the fireworks. (Yes, I realize I am spending it with a star trek club, I will video tape it because no one will believe me)
Be safe and happy and drunk and whatever!!

Red Rock Canyon was beautiful...

Later, Cindy, her cousin Tiffany and I hit Caesars for dinner, gambling and dancing. Thanks to my lucky Red Rock charm, Cindy cleaned up at roulette. I was right 9 out of 10 times guessing between red and black, so much so that the guys around us were betting with me. We played at the Pussycat Dolls casino and were the only girls at the table (fully dressed and not dancing in cages, that is)

Needless to say, I'm tired this morning. Think I'll stay in bed and watch the next doctor...

Today is supposed to be beautiful and sunny. Mom and I are driving to Red Rock to take some pictures. Then I'll hang out with my friend Cindy on the strip tonight.
This is the point in the trip when I start getting homesick for New England. Of course, I'll miss Vegas as soon as I get on the plane Monday. I can't win :)

But I won't get one. Despite all the hullabaloo about snow in Vegas last week...it is long gone...

There is plenty in the mountains though...

As usual, more pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bwao/

Debbie and I have been on a James McAvoy kick recently (even going so far as to snag 3rd row seats to his play "3 Days of Rain" next year in London !!!)
That brought me to the Last King of Scotland, which I probably would not have watched had I not seen Penelope and fallen in love with those big blue eyes...anyway...
I'm glad I watched it. Very disturbing, but not as violent as I thought. At least not until the end when the truth about Amin's torturous regime becomes more of a reality for McAvoy's Dr. Garrigan. It is an interesting perspective on such horror. What can happen when you are blinded by charisma and your own personal gains.
Whitaker is over the top, but then I think so was Amin. A brilliant portrayal of a dual-personality madman. Your best friend one day and a complete stranger the next.
As for the gross bits at the end, just avert your eyes like I did and it will be over soon enough. The only part I did not like was Gillian Anderson's. Was she doing a British accent or American? It was like she couldn't decide so she played it middle of the road, hoping no one would notice. It bugged me. She played her character very stiff, too. There was such potential to play up the lusty desire between her and Garrigan, but she couldn't hold up her end of it. He was left hanging and the scene fell flat.
